Railroad bridge

Your construction that looked for to communicate Bogotá with the river Magdalena, was authorized in 1873 and begun by the engineer Francisco Javier Cisneros in 1881. In 1888 the line arrived until Apulo and your continuation was difficult for the lack of economic resources. You had to wait up to 1895 for the renewal of your construction that only expanded 10 kms in twelve years. Finally, in 1909 you arrived to Facatativá and there it connected with the Railroad of The Savanna.

This way the mule was eliminated in the chain of transport between Costa and Bogotá: you took the train of Port Colombia to Barranquilla, river vapor until The Golden one, train until Ambalema, vapor until Girardot and two more trains to Bogotá. You were incorporated in 1953 to the National Railroads.
